Save the date, the July (ISC)² Annapolis Junction Chapter meeting is scheduled for July 23rd at the Dreamport facility in Columbia, MD from 5pm – 6:30 PM.
We are changing things up this month and having our July meeting at one of the new centers of gravity of cybersecurity research, collaboration, and prototyping in the area. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to collaborate with other professionals and learn the latest in cyber security (and gain your CPEs).
Our guest speaker will be from the new DreamPort facility. DreamPort is a cyber innovation, collaboration, and prototyping facility located in Columbia, MD. It was created by USCYBERCOM through a Partnership Intermediary Agreement awarded to the Maryland Innovation and Security Institute (MISI) in May 2018.
DreamPort is designed as an open facility that welcomes the public to tour, collaborate, and prototype in support of USCYBERCOM and its mission partners. Daily, monthly, and quarterly collaboration events will be announced through our website and via email for those that register to participate in our DreamPort Partnership Network.
The next Chapter meeting will be at NBP 304 facility (304 Sentinel Dr., Annapolis Junction, MD 20701) to include a Keynote speaker from a prominent private company or US agency regarding national defense and cybersecurity. At the February meeting, we will also update the membership on AJ Chapter bylaws and operating plans. Date: Monday, February 25th, 5pm – 6pm. Doors open at 4:30pm. Light refreshments will be served.
On January 10th, the Annapolis Junction Chapter co-sponsored Hacker Trivia at Jailbreak Brewery in Laurel. The event drew hundreds of cybersecurity professionals together to battle to the top of the leaderboard around topics of software engineering, cryptography, and general cybersecurity knowledge. At least 30 teams participated in the event. The goal of co-sponsoring was to attract new members to the Chapter and get awareness of the new Chapter to a new audience. At the event, we had a sign-up sheet for people to join our mailing list.
